For those living with diabetes, controlling the disease is not much different today than it has been for decades: a combination of healthy eating, exercise and medications. But unlike in the past, there is an abundance of high-tech tools that can make managing diabetes easier, including computer software, smartphone apps and devices that monitor blood sugar levels.

While this so-called virtual diabetes management can be helpful, it can also be confusing. Elmont Memorial Library is holding a seminar on the software, apps and devices available for diabetics on Tuesday. The seminar is free and open to everyone. There will be a Q & A session after the presentation.
