New, more secure veterans ID cards coming

Veterans enrolled in VA Health Care should be on the lookout for a new ID card.

The Department of Veterans Affairs is replacing the current Veteran Identification Card with a more secure version that no longer includes the Social Security number. The card more closely resembles a traditional ID card issued by major health insurers. The new VA card includes a small logo indicating the beneficiary's branch of service, along with other service-related information. The card can be used to obtain health services at VA medical faciliThe VA says it plans to begin mailing out the new cards next month.
