Tai chi has been shown to help breast cancer survivors physically by improving flexibility and easing pain. The gentle, ancient exercise also can aid emotional healing by improving self-esteem and reducing stress and anxiety.

All breast cancer survivors are invited to attend a free tai chi session on Thursday at Adelphi University's Alumni House in Garden City. The session will be led by Dorothy Scott, the tai chi instructor at Clark Botanical Gardens in Albertson.

The 11/2-hour workshop, sponsored by the Adelphi New York Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline, starts at 7:30 p.m. Wear loosefitting clothing and comfortable shoes; bring a bottle of water.

Registration is required. Call 516-877-4325.
