The percentage of adults older than 50 owning smartphones is growing, and so is the number of applications, or apps, people in that age group find useful. Tech website Mashable put together a list of "Apps Every Baby Boomer Should Know." All apps are free and available for Apple and Android devices. Here are the top five:

Edamam Mashable says the recipe app will appeal to older adults because of "the highly visual presentation."

Flashlight Turns your phone's camera flash into a constant beam of light.

Find My Car Helps locate a car in a parking lot using GPS (Global Positioning Systems).

Life360 Keeps track of family members and friends via GPS.

Vision Test A "lighthearted" app from Britain with a serious purpose: It tests a user's eye strength and can spot various defects, such as color blindness.
