Looking to give your time while giving back to the arts? Manhattan-based Volunteer Referral Center is holding "Volunteering in the Arts," a free seminar extolling the satisfaction that comes when you help spread the word about culture. Volunteer opportunities are available in a range of nonprofit organizations, including museums and agencies that specialize in music, dance and tourism. The seminar includes speakers from organizations looking for volunteers.

While all the opportunities are in the five boroughs, a spokeswoman for the Volunteer Referral Center said many Long Islanders are among the organization's roster of volunteers.
