Yoga, event for breast cancer survivors

Yoga has been found to be helpful in relieving pain and discomfort for breast cancer survivors. It also helps ease the emotional stress survivors feel as they cope with the disease's physical and emotional aftereffects.

Adelphi New York Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program is holding a free yoga class for breast cancer survivors on Oct. 3 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Adelphi University in Garden City. To register or for more information, call 516-877-4325 or go to bit.ly/adelphi-yoga. Bring a mat or a firm blanket.

The organization is also holding its annual "Celebration of Breast Cancer Survivors" at the university's Center Ballroom on Oct. 16, beginning at 6:15 p.m. All breast cancer survivors and their loved ones are invited to this free event. A light supper will be served.
