What made the Gym Class Heroes initially so thrilling was their unpredictability. The band's first two albums not only combined indie rock and hip-hop, but injected that mixture with the intensity of underdogs. As the group proudly said, they carried Upstate ( New York) on their backs, and they had chips on their shoulders to match.
