A. Thomas Levin of Rockville Centre has received the 2012 Diversity Vanguard Award from the Metropolitan Black Bar Association based on his "exemplary work" as a bar leader and attorney and for his efforts to promote diversity within the legal profession. Levin is chair of the municipal land use and environmental compliance practice and the professional responsibility practice at Garden City-based law firm Meyer, Suozzi, English and Klein. He is also former president of the New York State Bar Association, village attorney for eight Nassau County villages and has been special counsel to more than a dozen other local municipalities and school districts.
