Livery cab crashes into crowd at NYC street fair

NEW YORK - NEW YORK (AP) — Police say an out-of-control livery cab barreled into a crowded Queens street festival, smashing into food tents and injuring at least 13 people.

The black car came to a stop under the white tent of one food stand at Sunday's fair near Junction Boulevard and 37th Avenue in Jackson Heights. The vehicle left a mess of debris and broken stalls in its wake.

At least one man was taken away on a stretcher. A fire official says one vendor was taken to the hospital when hot grease fell on him.

Luz Lima tells the Daily News that she was selling children's garments at the fair when the car "just came out of nowhere."

Police say the driver likely won't be charged. They say the crash was an accident.
