Four retailers recall more than 150,000 Nap Nanny baby recliners
Parents take note: The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) as well as Amazon.com, Buy Buy Baby, Diapers.com and Toys R Us/Babies R Us are voluntarily recalling the Nap Nanny, a baby recliner made by Baby Matters, LLC, due to infant deaths.
According to a statement from the CPSC, “the four retailers agreed to voluntarily participate in the recall of the Nap Nanny because its manufacturer is unable or unwilling to participate.”
The recall includes the Nap Nanny Generations One and Two, and the Chill model infant recliners. The government agency is warning parents and caregivers that the baby recliners contain defects which pose a substantial risk of injury and death to infants.
You may remember in 2010, Baby Matters, LLC along with CPSC recalled the Generation One Nap Nanny and since created the Generation Two model with improved instructions and warnings to consumers. At the time of the 2010 recall, CPSC was aware of one death and 22 reports of infants hanging or falling over the side of the Nap Nanny.
The CPSC reports that since the 2010 recall, they've received “an additional 70 reports of children nearly falling out of the product.”
Consumers should review the return policy of the individual retailer from which they purchased a Nap Nanny recliner. If the product was purchased at one of the retailers below, see the link or call for instructions on returns, according to the CPSC website:
