Weekend family fun on Long Island: Mad Hatter Tea Party, 'Snow White' and more
Looking for things to do with the kids this weekend? From the Mad Hatter Tea Party and "Snow White" to Martians, games, crafts and more, there are plenty of activities happening on Long Island. Here are my top five picks for family-friendly activities this weekend:
Martian Mania Week at the Cradle of Aviation (Charles Lindbergh Boulevard, Garden City). Kids can create their own Martian meteorite while learning fun facts about Mars on Friday-Sunday from noon-4 p.m. Price: Free with museum admission ($14 adult, $12 children).
Play! Sawdust Clay at the Children's Museum of the East End (376 Bridgehampton Sag Harbor Tpke., Bridgehampton). Families can make their own batch of sawdust play dough on Saturday from 10:30-11:15 a.m. Price: $18; registration is required.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at John W. Engeman Theater (250 Main St., Northport). On Saturday at 11 a.m. and Sunday at 10:30 a.m., join the Disney characters in a musical adaptation of the classic fairy tale. Price: $15.
Celebrate the Winter Olympics at Maritime Explorium (101 E. Broadway, Port Jefferson). Children can design their own ski jump and then learn how to make their skier ski the furthest on Friday-Sunday from 1-5 p.m. Price: $5.
Mad Hatter's Tea Party at Coe Hall at Planting Fields Arboretum (1395 Planting Fields Rd., Oyster Bay). On Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., families can go to a tea party with storytelling, ukulele music, a watercolor workshop, bingo and a make-your-own-greenhouse craft. Price: $10, free for children 12 and younger.
