Bideawee animal shelter to close Wantagh adoption site
Mitt, a 4-year-old beagle mix, whined and cried yesterday as he waited to be adopted from the Bideawee animal shelter in Wantagh.
The mood was similarly somber among visitors and staff at the nonprofit agency as word spread that Bideawee had fallen victim to the troubled economy and would close the Beltagh Avenue adoption center March 8.
