Bishop William Murphy through the years

After 14 years as the leader of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, Bishop William Murphy submitted his letter of resignation to the Vatican in May 2015. On Friday, Dec. 9, 2016, Pope Francis announced Murphy would be succeeded by Pennsylvania Bishop John O. Barres.
