Thunderstorms, potentially severe, are possible on Long Island Wednesday afternoon, the National Weather Service said.
"Thunderstorm development is expected this afternoon and evening,” the warning reads. "Some storms will have the potential to become severe with damaging winds the main threat . . . A humid air mass will allow for locally heavy rain. Areas of urban and small stream flooding can be expected in the heaviest activity.”
The high temperature for Wednesday is expected to be about 86 degrees. There is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms on Thursday.
