Cop shot in Massapequa Park

Nassau County police have identified the officer shot to death in Massapequa Park Saturday night as Geoffrey Breitkopf, 40, a 12-year veteran of the force. Police identified the other person shot and killed as Anthony DiGeronimo 21, of Massapequa Park.

Nassau County Police Officer Geoffrey J. Breitkopf, 40, of the elite Bureau of Special Operations, was shot and killed March 12, 2011 after responding to a report of a masked man running through a Massapequa Park neighborhood with knives, authorities said.

Anthony DiGeronimo, 21, of Massapequa Park, was shot

Anthony DiGeronimo, 21, of Massapequa Park, was shot by two officers Saturday inside a home on Fourth Street after lunging at the officers with knives, police said.
