Luther Scott, 47, attempted to stop an off-duty Suffolk police officer Wednesday, then fled when the Suffolk cop showed him his badge, police said.
Scott was arrested Thursday morning at his workplace in Patchogue.
Driving a black 2002 Lincoln sedan, Scott was eastbound on Sunrise Highway in Islip at 6:40 a.m. Wednesday when he tried to pull over Patrick Morach, a Fifth Precinct Community Oriented Police Enforcement officer, police said.
Scott identified himself as a New York police officer and showed Morach an NYPD patch, police said.
Morach responded by showing Scott his Suffolk police shield, police said.
Scott then drove away, police said. Morach noted Scott’s license plate number, which led police to Scott’s workplace, 2100 Rte. 112, Patchogue. He was arrested there at 8:05 a.m. Thursday.
Scott was charged with second-degree criminal impersonation, a misdemeanor.
