Conflicting testimony in pregnant woman's stabbing
It was just before midnight on Sept. 7, 2007, and Suffolk County detectives were questioning Shantelle Scruggs about the fatal stabbing of Barbara Santos at a homeless shelter in North Bay Shore.
Scruggs, then 22 and eight months pregnant, told police Santos had attacked her with a knife and she acted in self-defense, according to court testimony.
