A Queens man is suspected of brutally stabbing his wife to death Thursday morning before fleeing their Sunnyside apartment and jumping off a platform of an elevated No. 7 subway station, police said.

Police and EMS officials found Jennifer Cale, 37, in her apartment with "multiple stab wounds" and rushed her to Elmhurst Hospital. She was pronounced dead on arrival.

Amis Cale, 41, was taken to the same hospital in critical condition shortly after 10 a.m., where he also died, police and hospital officials said.

The couple's 19-year-old daughter was the first to find her mother dead, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said. "There was obviously a fight between husband and wife," Kelly said. He said a witness watched Cale jump off the 40th Street-Lowery Street No. 7 platform.

A source with knowledge of the case said the family was "a wreck."

A police spokesman said an investigation is continuing, but "it looks like it's a murder-suicide."
