Cops: Hostage standoff in Malverne
A Malverne block that was closed Sunday evening for what police originally termed a hostage situation has been reopened.
Several homes were evacuated and parts of Ocean Avenue and Rider Avenue were closed Sunday night when police responded to what they believed was a hostage situation. In fact, police said late Sunday night, there were no hostages taken.
