A 3-year-old girl suffered minor injuries Friday evening when a rock, believed to be thrown, struck a vehicle on the Cross Island Parkway in Bellerose Terrace, shattering its back window, police said.

The girl’s mother, a 38-year-old woman, was driving a 2015 Jeep northbound on the parkway near Superior Road “when she heard a loud noise and noticed the rear passenger window was shattered,” Nassau County police said in a news release.

The toddler, who was sitting next to the window, was struck by the shattered glass, police said.

The mother exited the parkway and called 911, police said. An ambulance from the FDNY responded and transported the girl to a hospital, where she was treated for abrasions and released, police said.
