A California woman accused of stealing more than $35,000 from a Southold bank between 2012 and 2013 has been arrested, authorities said Thursday.

According to a news release, Sara L. Hando, 28, was arrested Wednesday and charged with third-degree larceny.

Hando allegedly stole the money from a customer’s account while she was employed at a Southold bank and was indicted by a Suffolk County grand jury, the release said.

Police said an arrest warrant was issued and Hando was arrested at her home in California by Los Angeles authorities. She was then transported back to Long Island by the Suffolk County Police Fugitive Squad to await arraignment.

“We have been working diligently with the District Attorney’s Office to resolve this matter quickly and fairly,” said Hando’s attorney, Jonathan Manley, in an emailed statement.

Further details of the case, including the name of the bank where Hando worked, were not immediately available.
