A Hempstead man sold and bought illegal drugs from his hospital bed and was arrested Wednesday, along with two of his associates, Nassau police said Friday.

Investigations into heroin sales in Hempstead led detectives to Jose G. Espinosa, 36, who was selling drugs to people visiting him during his recovery at a hospital, police said.

Detectives said he and his drug supplier, Angel L. Aponte, 42, of Freeport, had heroin and cocaine.

Espinosa was charged with four counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and three counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance, police said.

Aponte was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and one count of criminal sale of a controlled substance, police said.

Michael Colorio, 35, of Deer Park, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance because he had heroin, police said.

All three were arraigned Thursday and held pending bail.

Espinosa and Colorio were represented by Legal Aid, which has a policy of not commenting on cases. It was not clear if Aponte had an attorney.
