A Roosevelt woman who worked as a bookkeeper for a shipping company has been charged with stealing from the business, Nassau police said.
Detectives said that between Dec. 19, 2013, and Jan. 25, Jenna Micelotta, 35, of Fulton Avenue, while working for Arrow Express, a Freeport shipping company, “engaged in various unauthorized transactions utilizing the businesses accounts to enrich her own interests,” according to a police news release.
“The transactions included cash deposits, bill payments as well as online purchases that totaled in excess of $164,000,” the news release said.
The business owner contacted police after discovering the theft, police said. Micelotta was arrested at the business Thursday, police said.
She is charged with second-degree grand larceny and five counts of first-degree falsifying business records. Micelotta will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Friday.
