A 21-year-old man was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after he was shot twice Thursday night while standing with a group of people outside a home in Wyandanch, police said.

The shooting occurred at 8:45 p.m. on South 25th Street.

Suffolk County police said no arrests have been made.

Police said the victim, whose identity was not known, was standing in a group of people outside the house when “an unknown male fired shots into the group” — striking the victim twice.

The victim was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where police said he underwent surgery Thursday night. The victim is expected to recover.

First Precinct detectives are investigating the shooting, which occurred not far from the scene of a fatal shooting Sunday.

In that incident, police said officers responding to a scene on Irving Avenue near Doe Street in Wyandanch found Malik Stoddart, 18, and a friend on the ground. That shooting occurred just before 11:25 p.m. Police said a witness told investigators that shots were fired from a vehicle. Stoddart was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital by a crew from the Wyandanch-Wheatley Heights Ambulance Corp., police said.

It was not clear if investigators believe there is any link between the shooting Sunday and the one Thursday.
