Nassau County police are investigating the theft of military items, including a vintage rifle, from an East Meadow home sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

According to Third Squad police, a 91-year-old man who lives on Ronni Drive, awoke at 8 a.m. Sunday to find that his rear kitchen window was open.

After a search of the house, the victim, Angelo Ciotta, noticed that an engraved Marine Corps noncommissioned officer ceremonial sword, an engraved K-bar knife, and a vintage Hamburg World War I rifle were missing.

“The value [of these items] is to the person who wants it or the person who brought it back all of those years ago,” Ciotta, who served in the Marines, told News 12 Long Island. “That’s sentimental to me.”
