Police are investigating after at least three cars driving along Sunrise Highway in the Town of Southampton had their windows shot out by pellet guns.

The first reported incident occurred at about 4:25 p.m., State Police said, and state investigators are handling two complaints, while Southampton Town police are handling one.

During the incidents drivers reported having windows shot out while traveling on the highway. There were no serious injuries.

Police said investigators are actively searching for the shooter — or shooters — and will look to charge anyone involved with criminal mischief, endangerment and vandalism.
