Three strikes got an upstate man a date in court Friday, charged with burglary and criminal mischief after he broke into the East Meadow home of his former landlord three times in four days — all to steal food, Nassau County police said.

Saverio Russo, 31, of Monroe, illegally entered the Falcon Street home on Tuesday, May 9, Wednesday, May 10, and Friday, May 12, “causing damage to a door and window” and removing food before fleeing, Nassau County police said.

Police said Russo was a former tenant.

Russo was arrested Thursday afternoon on Ocean Avenue in Farmingville and charged with three counts of second-degree burglary and one count of fourth-degree criminal mischief, police said.

He is scheduled for arraignment Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.
