A crackdown on unsafe motorcycle operations led to the issuance of nearly five dozen summonses Sunday at a Long Island Expressway safety checkpoint, Suffolk County police said.

Police said the checkpoint was along the eastbound LIE, between exits 65 and 66 in Yaphank, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Police stopped 102 motorcycles and said they issued 56 summonses during those safety stops.
