Police are searching for two male suspects who robbed a woman walking through a municipal parking lot Monday evening off Broadway in Freeport. The pair stole several items, including cash, but police said those proceeds were later recovered.

The victim, identified only as a 53-year-old woman, was not injured in the attack, police said.

Nassau County police said the robbery took place behind 15 Broadway, in parking lot No. 4, just after 9:15 p.m.

The victim told police she was approached from behind by the suspects — one, believed to be in his mid-to-late teens, the other about 20 — who tried to grab her handbag.

The woman was “thrown to the ground,” police said. The suspects then stole her bag, jewelry and a cellphone, police said.

The suspects ran off, jumping a fence at Harding Place. Police said the stolen goods were all later recovered in the rear yard of that home.

They were returned.

Police are now asking anyone with information regarding the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.

All calls will remain confidential.
