A Bellmore man was charged with drunken driving Saturday night after the car he was driving went through a fence and into a house on St. Marks Avenue, Nassau County police said.
Police said Matthew Knee, 30, and a 51-year-old male passenger were stuck inside a 2000 Lincoln damaged by the collision when officers arrived at the accident scene at 9:50 p.m.
Rescuers from the Bellmore Fire Department and a Nassau County police emergency service unit extricated the two men and took them to a hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the accident.
Knee was charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless assault for the injuries to his passenger.
He will be arraigned as soon as practical, police said.
No injuries to the occupants of the house were reported.
