Nine of the 10 highest-paid K-12 school employees for the 2009-10 fiscal year in New York State were on Long Island. Here is a breakdown of their pay and benefits, according to their contracts, obtained from the website www.seethroughny.org, which is operated by the Empire Center for New York State Policy. Total compensation numbers were provided to the Empire Center by the state Teachers Retirement System, which uses salary, overtime and other costs to calculate those numbers.
