Faces of Sandy: Brian Barry

advertisement | advertise on newsday

Brian Barry, 36, of Bay Park, says it's a miracle his home is 95-percent restored from Sandy. Barry's house sustained more than $100,000 in damage and he lost many priceless personal possessions including his musical instruments collection, but he said the support he received from friends, family, strangers and even celebrities strengthed his faith in God and humanity. Volunteers from around the country helped repair Barry's home, and "The Grateful Dead's" Mickey Hart even set him drum heads to fix his water-logged drum set.
