Family had begged hit-and-run victim to stay home
Relatives of a Queens woman killed by a hit-and-run driver on her way to work said they had begged her to stay home over the weekend and hand out gifts she'd lovingly prepared for her nieces and nephews.
Lucretia Jara, 63, of Jackson Heights, was killed Sunday afternoon as she headed to her nanny job in New Hyde Park, struck by a dark-colored sedan that fled the scene.
