Gang violence on Long Island
Since its creation in 2003, the federal Long Island Gang Task Force has prosecuted more than 200 MS-13 members who were later convicted. The task force was originally created as a partnership among the FBI, Nassau County police, the Nassau County Sheriff's Department, State Police and the Hempstead Village Police Department, though some partners have since dropped out.
