$5,000 reward in case of man found dead in Huntington Station

Police have posted a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest in the slaying of 27-year-old Luis Castro, whose body was found on a roadway in Huntington Station.

Castro, from Roosevelt, was found on Sunday, Oct. 4, by a passing motorist on West Rouges Path. Police determined he had died of multiple stab wounds.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at: 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential, and callers do not have to reveal their identity.

Castro's body lay in the street uncovered on that Sunday morning, reminiscent of a controversial Brentwood case earlier this year. But police defended the department's handling of the Castro homicide as standard procedure and said covering a body can tamper with evidence.
