A Huntington coach is honored for 33 years of service

Assemb. Jim Conte (R-Huntington Station) recently presented Steve Henry, left, with an Assembly Citation for a lifetime of dedication to the Huntington community as a teacher and coach at the Huntington Booster Club’s annual golf outing.

A lifetime Huntington resident, Henry has taught physical education and served as a coach at Huntington High School for 33 years.  A graduate of Walt Whitman High School, Steve played baseball and football throughout his high school career and played baseball for Yankton College in South Dakota.

Since 1972, Henry has been active in many different aspects of the Huntington School District. He has coached football, softball and baseball for the Blue Devils, and in 1979, the girl’s softball team won the League Championship under his direction.  He was also Conte’s gym teacher and football coach at Toaz Junior High School.

Jen Pratico is a legislative aide to Conte.
