Community meeting in Elwood

Suffolk County Legislator Steve Stern (D-Huntington) spoke to Elwood and East Northport residents recently about community concerns at a Town Hall meeting held at the Elwood Public Library.  The meeting was one of Stern’s series of Town Hall meetings held throughout the 16th Legislative District to enable him to hear from community members and to update residents about important legislative initiatives.

Stern addressed questions from residents about the recently passed “Silver Alert,” which assists in the safe return of those with Alzheimer’s and other cognitive disorders who are reported missing, and his ground-breaking, first in the nation “Toxin-Free Toddlers and Babies Act,” which banned the use of BPA in infant and toddler bottles and cups. Stern also addressed community concerns about environmental matters, traffic, recycling and other quality of life issues.

“Town Hall meetings are a great opportunity to meet with members of the community to discuss important issues and gain valuable insight from residents about the issues that affect their day to day lives,” Stern said.  “I was pleased to see so many of our neighbors tonight, as I enjoy speaking with residents about their concerns.  I look forward to future Town Hall meetings throughout our area.”
