Fall Farm Festival in Melville

White Post Farms (250 Old Country Rd., Melville) is getting set to begin its Fall Farm Festival 2009

Gates open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; stay until 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 25, and Columbus Day

COST $14 child or adult; additional fees for pony and train rides and mining for gemstones.

Schneider Children’s Hospital also will have a benefit on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with $70 a person, including admission, a barbecue lunch in a private VIP tent, a pony ride and other perks. Call 516-352-3344 for more information.

“The Pork Chop Review” is just one of the new shows at the festival this October. White Post Farms bills these pigs as “some of the smartest porkers in the country” and says the “bundles of bacon” jump hurdles, waltz and sing. Other new shows are “Rodeo Ricky and the Great Stage Robbery” and “Davey the Clown.” Take unlimited hayrides into the cornfields, and let the kiddies roll in the hay in the “hay field.” Pick pumpkins and pay for them by the pound.

That's 7-month-old Isabelle McLoughlin, above, right, at last year's festival.   Call 631-351-9373 or visit for more information about this year.
