The East Northport Fire Department responded to assist a Suffolk County School Crossing Guard who was struck by a car on Laurel Road and Bellerose Avenue, Tuesday morning.
The female guard sustained minor injuries, and was taken to Huntington Hospital by East Northport FD Rescue Squad ambulance. Units were led by Second Assistant Chief Joseph Ervin.

Commack High School was recently awarded a Lemelson-MIT InvenTeam grant in the amount of $8,100 to create a device that reduces the standby power consumption of electrical devices in the home and office. Commack is one of 15 high schools nationwide to be selected as an InvenTeam this year.

The Northport Fire Department responded to an early morning blaze that damaged a home at 2 Beach Plum Drive in Asharoken on Tuesday.
