A house on Oak Street in Amityville was heavily damaged Saturday night when a fire spread from the first floor to upper floors as firefighters from three departments battled the blaze in high winds. Firefighters from departments in Amityville, North Amityville and Copiague arrived at the house about 11 p.m. and fought the blaze in below freezing temperatures for about 2 hours. There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation. The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire. (Dec. 29, 2012)(Credit: Paul Mazza)
