Centenarian: Charles Hurme

CHARLES HURME was born Nov. 5, 1912, in Manhattan. He moved with his family to Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. He graduated from the Manual Training High School and served with the Army during World War II. Charles graduated from New York University College of Engineering and worked for 45 years with American Electric Power Co. He spent six months in Saudi Arabia as a consultant to the ministry of electricity. He was married to Doris for 60 years before being widowed. Charles has two sons, Jeffrey and Andrew, and four grandchildren. He lives in Huntington Station and likes to stay healthy and fit by playing tennis and swimming. He celebrated his birthday at the Northport Veterans Affairs Medical Center with the staff and fellow members.
