Elizabeth Montes was born Oct. 2, 1912, in Quevedo, Ecuador, to Issac Montes and Angela Briones. She volunteered for the Red Cross for many years. Elizabeth married Karam Kure, now deceased, and had six children: Karime, Karam, Jose, Vincent, Carlos and Naviha. In 1975, Elizabeth immigrated to the United States. She helped raise her 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Elizabeth lives in Franklin Square. She celebrated her birthday at the New Hyde Park Elks Lodge.
