Nassau County anniversaries, June 2
65thALICE AND NICK DE SANTIS of East Norwich were wed May 9, 1948. They met at Nick's cousin's wedding in December 1945. Nick was still in his uniform waiting to be discharged from the Army 8th Air Corps' 92nd Bombardment Group that completed 300 missions in a three-year time span. Alice worked as a secretary at New York Life Insurance Co. Nick retired from Con Edison with 38 years of service as an industrial training administrator. They have two children and two grandchildren.
60thMARY AND ALFRED SCHRECK, longtime residents of Williston Park, were wed Jan. 24, 1953, in Brooklyn. They celebrated in Palm Beach, Fla., where they spend their winters. They also cruised the Caribbean with a group from their community club. A celebration is planned this summer with their four children, their spouses and seven grandchildren. Alfred is a retired detective with the New York City Police Department. Mary retired after 40 years as a first-grade teacher in the Hicksville school district. They are both members of the Herricks Leisure Club.
50thJOAN AND MICHAEL
DUBRITZ of Plainview were wed April 20, 1963, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Brooklyn. They met while Joan was a student nurse at Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn. They celebrated with a trip to the Galápagos Islands and Machu Picchu in March and a weekend at Skytop Lodge in the Poconos hosted by their three children, their spouses and eight grandchildren. Michael is a retired electrical engineer who worked at Eaton Corp. Joan is a retired school nurse from the Levittown school district.
25thALICE AND JOHN KUFS of Garden City were wed April 16, 1988, at Calvary Lutheran Church in East Meadow, followed by a reception at the Imperial Manor in Bethpage. They celebrated with a vacation on the island of Jamaica. Alice is a nurse practitioner at Ear, Nose and Throat Associates of New York. John is a vice president and senior systems analyst at Bank of America. They have six children.
