Robert Harding of Roosevelt is one of a handful of the Montford Point Marines living on Long Island who were African Americans who endured discrimination and prejudice in the Marines. While not went to the Pacific, many did and served with great valor. In 2012 the Montford Point Marines were awarded the Congressional Gold Medal. (May 1, 2013)(Credit: Alejandra Villa)
