David Hunt of Fort Salonga has received the 2013 Distinguished Citizen Award from the Boy Scouts of America's Suffolk County Council for "inspiring youth to lead, to accept responsibility, and to display spirit," the council said. Hunt, the assistant Scoutmaster and Eagle coach for Troop 113 in Centerport, oversees Eagle Scout service projects for 28 local troops and serves as merit badge counselor for 11 different subjects. He is also an ordained interfaith minister who provides counseling to adults and adolescents and is the president of Hunt Corporate Services, a real estate firm in Plainview.
