Leonardo Rastelli of Setauket has been named a 2013 Guggenheim Fellow by the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation based on his "distinguished achievement in the past and exceptional promise for the future," the organization said. Rastelli is an associate professor in Stony Brook University's Yang Institute for Theoretical Physics and the Department of Physics and Astronomy, and before that he was an assistant professor at Princeton University. His research interests lie in strong theory and quantum field theory. His project for the Guggenheim award is "The Superconformal Bootstrap Program."
