Peter Vannucci of Northport and Sondra Rose of Cedarhurst were recently named Long Island's first Savvy Senior King & Queen by the Association of Generational Experts for Seniors based on their passion for being active seniors. Vannucci, a former Jones Beach lifeguard and Korean War veteran, is an avid skier who still skis at altitudes of up to 12,000 feet in below-zero temperatures despite suffering a heart attack in 1993. Rose has regularly raised funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by participating in hiking, biking and half-marathon events after her grandson was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
