Eight additional trains are in play Wednesday afternoon for customers planning an early getaway for the extended Fourth of July weekend, the Long Island Rail Road said.
Each of the eight are westbound, leaving Penn Station starting at 2:08 p.m., the commuter service said in a news release.
The extra getaway trains include three on the Babylon Branch, three on the Port Jefferson Branch, one on the Port Washington Branch and one on the Far Rockaway Branch.
The commuter service also reminded customers that it will operate a Sunday / holiday schedule for the Fourth of July.
The additional Wednesday getaway trains are:
2:32 p.m. from Penn Station express to Lynbrook, then all stops to Babylon.
3 p.m. from Penn Station stopping at Jamaica, Rockville Centre, then all stops to Babylon.
3:31 p.m. from Penn Station express to Rockville Centre, then all stops to Babylon.
Port Jefferson Branch
2:08 p.m. stopping at Jamaica, Mineola, then all stops to Huntington.
2:29 p.m. stopping at Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, Jamaica, New Hyde Park, then all stops to
3:24 p.m. stopping at Jamaica, Mineola, Westbury and Hicksville.
Port Washington Branch
3:40 p.m. stopping at Woodside, Flushing-Main Street, then all stops to Great Neck.
Far Rockaway Branch
3:48 p.m. express to Locust Manor, then all stops to Far Rockaway.
Also, additional service has been added Wednesday from Montauk and Greenport, the LIRR said.
Several eastbound trains that normally run only on Fridays in the summer will also operate on Wednesday, including the Montauk Cannonball (which also will run on Friday, as scheduled).
The additional trains from Montauk and Greenport include:
1:49 p.m. from Hunterspoint Avenue stopping at Jamaica, Westhampton and all stops to Montauk.
4:07 p.m. Cannonball from Penn Station, stopping only at Westhampton, Southampton, Bridgehampton, East Hampton and Montauk.
5:09 p.m. from Penn Station will stop at Jamaica and make all stops to Montauk.
7:11 p.m. from Penn Station will stop at Jamaica, Bellport, Speonk, Westhampton and all stations to Montauk.
The 5:21 p.m. train from Ronkonkoma to Yaphank has been extended to make all stops to Greenport.
