Starting this weekend, track work on Long Island Rail Road's Hempstead Branch will cause delays on weekends through late May, with buses replacing trains for some eastbound passengers on that line.
LIRR suggests that those passengers add up to 25 minutes to their traveling times.
Buses at Jamaica will replace eastbound trains to Hollis and Queens Village. Customers at those stations who wish to travel east will board buses to Bellerose Station and then transfer to trains for service to all stations through Hempstead.
Buses from Jamaica will depart 27 minutes earlier than normal train time, starting at 11:06 p.m. Friday and continuing through 3:54 a.m. Monday.
Other work weekends include: April 19-22, April 26-29, May 3-6 and May 17-20.
Workers are installing new concrete ties as part of LIRR's regular track maintenance.
Hempstead Branch customers can pick up a copy of the special Hempstead Branch Concrete Tie Track Work Timetable at stations or view the timetable on the MTA website.
Customers can also go to mta.info to sign up for text or email service alerts. Customers can also call 511, the New York State Travel Information line, and say: "Long Island Rail Road" when prompted. If you are hearing-impaired, use your preferred relay service provider or the free 711 relay to reach LIRR at 511.
