A gunman forced a Walgreens employee to unlock a safe and demanded cash early yesterday in Westbury, Nassau County police said.

Officers responded to the drugstore, at 15 Old Country Rd., after the 6:45 a.m. robbery, which happened when a female employee arrived to open the store. The suspect approached the employee with a black handgun, ordering her to open the door and disable the alarm system, police said. Once inside, the gunman told her to open the safe. He fled with an unknown amount of money, authorities said. No injuries were reported.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
